Lafferty Closes The Points Chase
It’s two in a row for Mike Lafferty. The KTM factory rider took the win at the Cajun Classic, the 4th round of the AMA/Rekluse national Enduro series presented by Moose Racing. Lafferty won 4 of the 6 test sections for a score of 33.21.” I had a good ride today. We had the bike dialed in, and I just tried to be consistent.” Mike won this event last year as well. Finishing second was Brad Bakken also on a KTM. Bakken loved the faster trail and it showed. “ I have been riding the GNCC’s and this was a lot like them.” He dropped a 33.44. Rounding out the podium was series champ and points leader Russell Bobbitt. Bobbitt had a bit of an off day, but still managed a score of 34. “ I just had some problems today, I fell a few times and then had some brake problems.” Team AM-Pro FMF Yamaha’s Jason Raines finished 4th with KTM mounted Cole Kirkpatrick rounding out the top 5.
The Course was roughly 70 miles with 6 test sections. The trail is on the faster side with only a few sections of tight stuff. The race was postponed a week due to flooding but in that week the terrain dried out and was close to perfect. With temperatures in the 70’s and minimal dust, it just made for great racing. The rider turnout was just over 360 entries. The series is headed to Tennessee for round 5.
